Welcome to Stadium Gates!
My name is Damon Peters, @damon_peters, and I’m launching Stadium Gates to help accelerate the distribution of Web3 technologies and its associated philosophies.
The first thing you should know is that I’m “doing it live”. As much as possible, I’m going to be radically transparent and let you watch me figure this out. This is a group learning exercise, and we’ll all learn more effectively if you’re able to observe the twisties required to “figure it out”.
From email newsletters, conference calls, podcasts, to the community discord, I’ll provide insight to the chutes and ladders along the way. I’m taking this approach for a few reasons, though the primary one is that the crowd is an accelerator to product testing...live.
The mission for Stadium Gates is to onboard as many people as possible to the Web3 space. To that end, I’m starting this community to invite folks to join the journey and then to invite their friends. If we’re lucky, we’ll change the world for the better. If we’re fortunate, we’ll make some great friends and conduct an experiment that may prove useful to others.
As we already know, Web3 technologies are some of the most exciting innovations in history. Most of us, however, are socially and professionally prepared for an old economy with skills and habits that are dated or perishable. Personally, I come from the ecommerce industry and have over 20-years experience selling merchandise online. While this has been a rewarding profession which has served me well, it’s not Web3. I’m retooling, and I want to help others do the same. We all need to sprint.
What has not been at the forefront of the attention Web3 has received is the increasing risk of a further class divide if we don’t drop the ladders down and help others climb aboard. Web3 is so revolutionary for society that anyone not participating is at risk of being left behind as a consequence of its success. I liken this risk to the difference between being literate or illiterate. We must account for the social good for the revolution to be sustainable.
My strategy to help is to form this community and organize training for as many people as possible, and, also, to build Web3 products for the masses. I believe moms and grandparents should be able to mint and/or buy NFTs as easily as making coffee, and my barber should be able to swap BTC for DOGE to buy tickets to the Jets game. Only by making Web3 part of our daily lives will we realize the abundance resulting from a true bottoms-up society. Stadium Gates members will have the opportunity to build, teach, and learn together and realize our best opportunity to advance the ball.
Regarding the Stadium: One of the greatest human experiences I’ve ever had was inside a packed stadium during a world-record performance. The unity within that stadium during those moments was something I’ll never forget, and it inspired me to use a Stadium as a symbol for human achievement and collective experiences. The capacity of our Stadium here is 72,521. This number is a personal number for me and will serve as a recurring value within the community where appropriate.
The next steps are for me to get to work shipping emails and meeting new members. I have just committed to adding a lot of value, and I’ve yet to create a very good plan.
I’m looking forward to the unknown and ambitious.
